2.Palm Springs Self-Guided Driving Audio Tour

★★★★★★★★★★4.0 · 211 reviews · 2 to 3 hours (approx.)

Drive more than 22 miles through Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley while 53 location-triggered audio stories explain celebrity homes, desert modernism, Hollywood history, and local landmarks. You start at the Palm Springs Visitor Center and finish near Thousand Palms. The app works offline, costs $16.99 per car, and offers lifetime access.

“The idea of the tour was good, but it cut out many times. We couldn’t actually see much of anything because the houses are behind tall, hedges, and walls and gates. The roads are very narrow and it was difficult to drive or park because of other traffic and large trucks. All in all, I cannot recommend this. It seemed a little bit of a waste of time. If you want to see the homes of the stars and or the mid-century modern homes of repute your best bet is to buy a book that will actually show you the houses and the interiors and give you the stories.”

“The tour works without any cell service or WiFi. Just make sure you download it beforehand. You can start anywhere you like and it’ll pick up your location automatically. It’s a Amazing how it does that. Very good narration of the sites including warnings about upcoming roads and curves. I only wish it had more information about the sites while you are there. They could just keep going. I had it playing in the car while driving and then Switched to Shokz headphones while walking. I bought an Airfly adapter from Amazon that allows two headsets to play over Bluetooth. That worked out great. Some of the music background that…”
